About how they work...

eBOB
Store-Scanelectronic Bottom Of Basket systems consists of a controller, 3-5 sensors, an audio module, a "CHECK UNDER CART" display or LCD monitor and camera, power pack and a reflective "Tag" installed on each shopping cart to activate the system.

Store-ScanThe eBOB system uses five infrared transceivers to detect and scan the bottom tray of the shopping cart. Three sensors are used to establish the position of the cart in the lane and two are used to scan the bottom tray of the cart.

Store-ScanWhen a "Tagged" cart enters the lane, the first or "Enter" sensor clears the system and activates eBOB. As the cart progresses to the second or "Start" sensor, the system begins scanning the bottom of the cart with the two "I" sensors. The "I" sensor transmits an infrared beam across the lane to detect the item.

Store-ScanWhen a normal item such as a bag of dog food, a case of soft drinks, or similar item is on the bottom tray, the beam is broken. The system detects this and gives the audio alert and flashes "CHECK UNDER CART' on the display panel located in front of the cashier.

The system gives the audio alert sequence only once per cart. The flashing indicators continue until the cart passes the end or "Exit" sensor, at which time the system turns off and remains off until the next "Tagged" cart enters the lane.

Store-ScanvBOB
eBOB, when configured with camera and video monitor, displays items on the bottom of the basket. We call this configuration vBOB. It can be programmed to turn on the video display with the passing of every tagged cart or only when an item is detected. We a similar video system for Self Checkout lanes called SCOTVU!

CARTvu
Cashier Assist Register Transaction Video Unit consists of a LCD color Monitor, controller, video camera, and power pack. CARTVU is a versatile system that can be used in a variety of configurations.

Store-ScanCARTVU has a camera at each check lane that is activated when the system detects and item on the bottom of the basket. When CARTVU detects an item, it displays a picture of that item on an LCD display for the cashier to see and then to record that item.

Store-ScanAs the item is being displayed on the LCD in front of the cashier, the system automatically flashes a 'check under cart' message on the screen to alert the cashier that an item on the bottom of the basket has been detected and needs to be recorded.

Store-ScanStore-ScanAn acknowledgement button is installed allowing the cashier to 'verify' they were alerted to the item on the bottom of the cart. Once the cashier presses the "Acknowledge" button, the system places a check-mark over the image on the video monitor.

Store-ScanAs the cart exits the check lane, the system is automatically reset which enables the system for the next transaction.

NOTE: CARTVU is currently undergoing a major upgrade and will be available in early 2007.
